swedish.

When I speak to you, my mind becomes an alien thing
and I don't know where to put the words
like this is the first time I've spoken English, and maybe I really speak Swedish and maybe I don't.

rustic.

It's wool, warmth, slightly prickly. It smells like coffee grounds that I haven't yet thrown out. It's gingham. It's your bed and your hands and me curled up in the space beneath your chin. Rolled sleeves, a slight touch of hand, the fraying leather strings on your shoes.

more than what you do.

I want you to tell me about every person you've ever been in love with. Tell me why you loved them, and why they loved you. Tell me about a day in your life you didn't think you'd live through. Tell me what the word 'home' means to you.

See I wanna know more than what you do for a living.

I want to know how much of your life you spend just giving. And if you love yourself enough to also receive sometimes.

bow ties and pins.

My friend Grace recently finished a Kickstarter project designing tops, bow ties, and jewelry for Sew Love, a startup that focuses on crowdsourced clothing.  I hopped over to her apartment in Oakland to say hello and caught her finishing up these orders, just in time for the holidays.

Suede bow ties
Notice the tiny pin stuck in the neck of the body form? Such a tiny detail, I love it.

Hipster heaven.

Ladies and gentlemen, how to properly tie a bow tie.

Morning light is gorgeous.

There's something about this image that I love. It's quiet and calming, and there's a hint of blue in the shadows of the wall that pop with aqua and teal of the painting underneath the kitchen island.

Setting up for jewelry making.

A surprise birthday gift for me! Beautifully and lovingly wrapped, 4+ years and counting.

challah.

I love brunch. Specifically, I love waking up late and popping the yolk of an over easy. Cardigans and strong coffee are a plus. Going over to Sean's is the best because his apartment gets gorgeous light and there's food.

There are jars and spices hiding behind the makeshift curtain.

My favorite part of this is the red onion.

Tension in the heavy cream.

Challah is the best for french toast. So soft.

I'm not big on champagne, but I'll drink it on special occasions and when it's served in mason jars.

A crane. He wants to get it colored in, but I like it this way.

land's end.

I want to know you moved and breathed in the same world with me.

and leftover croissant.

My favorite is the image from the previous post. These are just afterthoughts.

This croissant is from Cafe du Soleil in Hayes Valley. It's a nice place, something of a bourgeois version of La Boulange, if that's possible.
